Matthew is an experienced distance and ultrarunner who has been logging miles for the last 30+ years. He has completed more than three dozen ultramarathons, 14 100-mile races and countless other shorter distance races. His 100-mile finishes include Leadville, Pine to Palm, Run Rabbit Run, Cascade Crest, Wasatch and a sub-20 hour finish at Ironhorse 100. 

Running is a passion for Matthew that is deep rooted in his life story. After running an estimated 25,000 miles in training and races, he firmly believes that CrossFit was one of the best decisions he ever made in his running career. “I’m not only a stronger runner, but an overall stronger person because of CrossFit.” 

Matthew has an amazing son Tyler and is married to former Resurgens Coach Claire. 

Favorite WOD: Jerry (1 mile run, 2k row, 1 mile run)

Motto: “A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.”
